Beautifully sculpted from Bone Resin. "Hear no evil, speak no evil, see no evil, do no evil" is unknown in its origin and unusual to include the fourth monkey. This proverb is represented by three monkeys covering their eyes, ears, and mouth. They portray the Santi (Three Truths) of the Tendi Sect of Buddhism. During the period between 1333-1568, it was customary to carve these figures on stone pillars during the observance of Koshin. The three monkeys are also carved on the door of the Sacred Stable in Japan. This beautiful set of 4 are cast from ground buffalo horns and resin. The color and feel is very pleasing to the senses.
